Hello Ladies, and welcome to my tutorial......
I wanted to create a canvas that I could give as a gift to my mother.
so I set about choosing the photo and getting my supplies together.
I have to say this is inspired by finnabair, her work is awesome and
inspires me everyday.....
I have to say this is inspired by finnabair, her work is awesome and
inspires me everyday.....
So here are the supplies I used!
Lindys Stamp gang - Industrial chic!
Finnabairs 9th wave, Stencil and Canvas sheet from Prima.
bits and pieces listed below.....
I used:
12x12 canvas***
Gesso***
Helmars 450 glue & double sided tape.
papers from the 9th Wave collection by Finnabair***
denim, burlap*** and lace***
metal embellies***
Stencils by finnabair***
Modelling paste***
twine, glass baubles, flowers***, vintage book pages.
Lindys stamp gang set - Industrial Chic***
Studio 490 Gold embossing paste***
misc bits and bobs from my stash.
Here we go:
I took the canvas, and pasted a vintage page to the centre of the canvas
so I could keep an eye on my design. I gesso'd over it, its just visible.
I then used the stencil by Finnabair and added modelling paste
for texture and design.
Then I took my photo and laid it over this canvas, and started to build underneath the photos the many layers of paper, denim, burlap, book pages and diecuts you see.
Then Once I was happy with the layers, and the setup of the photo and its surrounds, I moved on to spritzing my background..
After I spritzed my Lindys onto the canvas, I let it dry naturally then replaced the
stencil on the design, and went over my raised areas again with the studio 490
gold embossing paste.
this gave it a splash of gold that I wanted, but not to much, I wanted
the industrial chic colours and the splotching to be the focus!
Now all I had to do was glue down my photo and its layers that I had pre glued
earlier, and add a title. Bella!
I hope you enjoyed watching me get my hands dirty....I love mixed media and its so
much fun and the possibilities are endless!!!!!
And dont forget, this doesnt have to be a canvas, you can put this into a layout, just swap out the canvas board for a sheet of 12x12 White textured cardstock.....or you can do this in your art journal,
so ladies, be creative and get scrapping!
Have a great weekend!
