MIXED MEDIA TUTORIAL FOR BELLA CANVAS. inspired by Finnabair.

Hello Ladies, and welcome to my tutorial......
I wanted to create a canvas that I could give as a gift to my mother.
so I set about choosing the photo and getting my supplies together.
I have to say this is inspired by finnabair, her work is awesome and
inspires me everyday.....

So here are the supplies I used!

Lindys Stamp gang - Industrial chic!

Finnabairs 9th wave, Stencil and Canvas sheet from Prima.

bits and pieces listed below.....

I used:
 12x12  canvas***
Gesso***
Helmars 450 glue & double sided tape.
papers from the 9th Wave collection by Finnabair***
 denim, burlap*** and lace***
metal embellies***
Stencils by finnabair***
Modelling paste***
twine, glass baubles, flowers***, vintage book pages.
Lindys stamp gang set - Industrial Chic***
Studio 490 Gold embossing paste***
misc bits and bobs from my stash.

Here we go:

I took the canvas, and pasted a vintage page to the centre of the canvas
so I could keep an eye on my design. I gesso'd over it, its just visible.
I then used the stencil by Finnabair and added modelling paste
for texture and design.

Then I took my photo and laid it over this canvas, and started to build underneath the photos the many layers of paper, denim, burlap, book pages and diecuts you see.

Then Once I was happy with the layers, and the setup of the photo and its surrounds, I moved on to spritzing my background..

After I spritzed my Lindys onto the canvas, I let it dry naturally then replaced the
stencil on the design, and went over my raised areas again with the studio 490
gold embossing paste.

this gave it a splash of gold that I wanted, but not to much, I wanted
the industrial chic colours and the splotching to be the focus!

Now all I had to do was glue down my photo and its layers that I had pre glued
earlier, and add a title.   Bella!

I hope you enjoyed watching me get my hands dirty....I love mixed media and its so
much fun and the possibilities are endless!!!!!

And dont forget, this doesnt have to be a canvas, you  can put this into a layout, just swap out the canvas board for a sheet of 12x12 White textured cardstock.....or you can do this in your art journal,
so ladies, be creative and get scrapping!
Have a great weekend!

BLUE XMAS - Flying Unicorn

Hello Scrappers,
Id like to share with you today my latest xmas layout.. Im not a fan of red and green.....I tend to go for other colours at xmas.....so when Bo Bunny bought out snowfall a few winters ago I was in heaven.....needless to say its been in my stash since then and I have been real hesitant to use it, cause once you use it, its gone!
I found a gorgeous chippy of Santa with his six white boomers, ( white Kangaroo's) from the famous Australian xmas song...six white boomers! So had to use it!!!!!
I used the dusty Attic xmas tree, and followed a tutorial done by Rachiebabe from SB.COM
I fractured the 3 layers of the tree, gessoed, and used white icicles as the snow drifts and decorated with a few blue and silver POP beads.
My Santa sleigh, I used Versa colour ink, Dimensional magic to give it dimension and Mica fragments.....My Boomers are White ink covered in Starburst stickles......
I dont have snow photos, this is Australia and our xmas days are usually over 30 degree celcius.....so I borrowed a picture from google and used that....

A Blue Xmas with the Bubbachooka AKA Mish

Hello Ladies, and Welcome to my little post today.....Well Xmas is just around the bend and wow it got here fast this year....
Im not sure everyone is the same, but Im over red and green....I bought myself aa green tree but thats it, everything else is other colours this year.....So id like to share with you a couple fo tags that I have made using my fav scrappy colours, Blue and brown. Yep a Blue xmas!!!!!
This first tag has 8 layers....yep 8. I used a Prima tag that you can find in the FUL store, the 8.5" ones, and added a layer of Prima Journal tag, and some lace, a chippy flourish and frame and topped it off with a wooden Kaiser Reindeer! ITs teal and brown with lots of lace ribbon.....I inked the words in two tone and finished them off with dimensional magic....I used dimensional magic on the reindeer as well.

This next tag is a little more "vintage" I used the same size tag, but this time I used my cuttlebug to cut out the Tim Holtz "Noel 25" and two toned them with inks and dimensional magic again, then I pulled apart a cheap xmas card from last year, ripped off the plastic frame, that had a distinct vintage feel and put a vintage image of xmas underneath.....I topped this off with some little blue Petaloo blooms.....
121120132246
and lastly I made a little ATC from the scraps on my bench afterwards....I love this old Bo Bunny paper, it was their Xmas release a few years ago and I loved it, Im almost sade to use it....hmmmmm Scrappy Hoarder......thats me.
121120132247
I hope all you ladies out there have a Scrappy Xmas and find loads of new stash under the tree, and while most of you celebrate in the bitter cold and snow ( ya lucky ducks) think of us Southern Hemisphere Belles sweltering in 40 degree Celcius heat, dishing up cold meats, cold seafood and salads! Hoping like crazy it isnt so hot your flip flops ( we call them thongs) dont melt on the driveway!
